In Ground Pool Cleaning

Cleaning an in-ground pool requires more time and attention than an above ground pool because there are generally more landscaped features, such as steps, for algae and algae causing debris to hide. An in-ground pool also often utlizes heaters, filters, pool lights and other pieces of equipment that must be checked and maintained.

Your primary goal when cleaning your in-ground pool is to remove debris and create an environment that will be unfriendly toward the growth of algae and other forms of bacteria. Maintaining a clean pool and testing the water regularly will help ensure a safe and happy pool experience.

1. Skim the surface of the water for debris

2. Scrub the pool walls with a pool brush and designated pool cleaning chemicals

3. Vacuum the walls, steps and bottom of the pool with a pool vacuum

4. Check the equipment filters, heater and pool light for damage or wear and replace as necessary

5. Check and adjust the water levels, chlorine levels and pH levels. Generally, chlorine should be 1.0ppm and a pH level of between 7.2 and 7.6. is desirable.

  • pH testing kit
  • Chlorine and testing kit
  • Bromine and testing kit (if you cannot use chlorine)
  • Chlorinated or non-chlorinated pool shock kit
  • Long-lasting algaecide
